Volunteering Project

Our volunteers are the people who give their time and their expertise for free and without whom we would be unable to provide our service.

They are all ages and come from all sorts of backgrounds.  Some have been service users themselves in the past and are now at the stage in their recovery where they want to give back something to others who are going through the same experiences and feelings as themselves.  Some are members of the community who want to give up their time to help others and improve the well-being of individuals in their own community.

We are especially keen to attract volunteers from 16-25 and 50+ age groups.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Tan y Maen we have many projects with which you will be able to help.  Please click on any of our project pages on the left hand menu to find out what volunteers are able to get involved in.  If you have any ideas for new projects we will be keen to hear from you.

We look after our volunteers at Tan y Maen.

When you make contact (and before committing yourself) you will get the chance to chat to our volunteer co-ordinators who will tell you more about volunteer involvement in our projects and show you around our premises.  If you want to go ahead we will complete an application form with you.  You will need to let us have the names of two personal referees and we will do a CRB check.  While we are waiting for these to come back we will get you started with a 'taster day' and if you are happy to carry on we will get you started on induction and training. We hold regular volunteer meetings, social events and an annual 'Thank You' event to which all volunteers are invited.  We give certificates for 25, 50 and 100 hours of volunteer work.  All our volunteers receive travel expenses for work they do at Tan y Maen.

We know volunteering is a two way thing - so we will make sure you have the chance to get training, experience and opportunities to meet other organisations and improve your skills and networks.
