Wellbeing Project

One of the main aims of Tan y Maen is to improve the well-being of individuals in the local community by preventing problems arising in the first place.

We do this by making our resource centre available four days a week for anyone to DROP IN to see us.  Drop-in support is available at the Wellbeing Centre in Blaenau Ffestiniog between 10 and 4 every weekday (except Wednesday)  Come and meet other people, have a cup of tea and coffee and get support or help with any issue or problem you may have or just for company and a chat.  There is no need to book - JUST COME ALONG.

We also have lots of other activities going on which are geared to help you to maintain and improve your wellbeing and mental health.   Check our monthly WHAT's ON GUIDE for confirmation of full details of dates and times for each activity:

  • Listening Ear - Every Thursday

For anyone who needs to talk about a problem or issue.  Nothing is off limits.  If we can help we will or we will signpost you to other people or services who can.  NO NEED TO BOOK.  The Listening Service is provided by Annie and is available every Thursday.  Call us on 01766 830203 for more information or details

  • Art Group - every Tuesday

This is a a self supported group facilitated by staff and volunteers at Tan Y Maen with the help of Jill - our Art Tutor - who attends once every fortnight.  We provide all art materials for FREE - you provide the skills and ideas!   There is a permanent exhibition all around the Tan Y Maen Wellbeing Centre and in our upstairs meeting room of some of the work that has been done in this group over the years it has been running. Come and see and we are sure you will be impressed.  However, the most important thing is to get involved.  You don't need any artistic skill, you may not have done art since school or you might have just exhibited at the Tate - whatever your level - COME AND HAVE A GO.

  • Men's Sheds - every Friday

A group organised by our staff and volunteers to give support for Men of any age or background in the area who may be experiencing issues with their physical, emotional or mental wellbeing.  The group will set its own agenda for activities, so far we have done everything from cooking to gardening and we want to start bike maintenance and furniture restoration.  If you want somewhere to meet new people, share your existing skills and learn some new ones in a safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment this is the group for you!

  • Pottery Group - fortnightly on a Monday

This group has been running for two years and is open to anyone interested in learning how to 'potter'!  New members are always made to feel very welcome.  This group is led by Helen our pottery tutor.  Check the What's On page for full details of when this group will meet.

There are lots of other activities taking place all the time at Tan Y Maen.

There is usually something for everyone - check our ' What's On' page regularly

for details of new groups and more information.
